Nico Hulkenberg will join Sauber for the 2025 season, leaving Haas after two years. The move was confirmed by Sauber.
Not only will he be there for 2025, but also when Sauber translates into Audi in 2026. It's a solid choice by the Sauber/Audi team. Hulkenberg has been in great form in 2024, scoring points in three of the five races so far and continuing to put in excellent qualifying performances for the American-run Haas.
This now leaves a seat open at Haas for next year, with speculation that Ferrari reserve driver Ollie Bearman will take the seat left by Hulkenberg. For Sauber, at least one of Valtteri Bottas or Zhou Guyanu is gone, if not both. Who fills the second seat at Sauber is still up in the air, with Carlos Sainz an obvious choice to do so. Whether he finds an upper-tier drive for 2025 before transitioning to Audi in 2026 is up for debate, especially with most of the high-end seats already filled.
