19-year old Oliver Bearman will replace current Haas driver Kevin Magnussen for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix for his second Grand Prix start of the year.
With Bearman already signed as a full-time Haas driver next year he always seemed the most likely candidate to sub in for the suspended Magnussen who became the first driver to receive a one-race ban under F1’s penalty points system introduced in 2013.
Bearman made his F1 debut in March standing in for Carlos Sainz at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix where he finished a very impressive 7th. This performance sealed the deal with Haas giving Bearman a full time race drive for 2025.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Bearman revealed his F1 ambitions for the future: “I hope that one day I will be fighting for a world championship - my goal in my life is to win an F1 world championship”. He went on to say that it is also his ambition to race for Ferrari who have backed his junior career through their driver training programme.
London born Bearman moved to Modena aged just 16 to join Ferrari’s academy programme and currently drives for Prema in the F2 championship.
